Fairmort's u2lBMPick DLL
BM+ Pick-list Lookup within Crystal Reports
A number of BM+ clients use Misys provided, Pervasive DDF files to access the system data via Crystal Reports. In addition to the DDF files Misys also provide a plug-in DLL that performs data transformation on non-standard fields (e.g. amounts, dates).
One area that has not been covered by the Misys DLL is support for BM+ pick-list values. Pick-lists are used within BM+ to provide a descriptive view of data values held. An example of this is the Password Flag held on the General Ledger, this is a one-character value in the range [P,0..9], instead of users having to know the meaning behind the allowed values a BM+ pick-list holds a descriptive name for each value; then in enquiry and static updates the pick-list descriptive value is shown rather than the actual value. E.g. If an Account has a Password Flag value of P then enquiry will display ‘P: Password required for posting and enquiry’ instead of just P.
Fairmort’s new DLL, u2lBMPick.dll, provides Crystal Report users with the ability to report the pick-list defined description of a value rather than the actual value – giving users the data they expect to see rather than an unknown numeric or character code.
Contained in the free download is installation and usage instructions.
