Bank Remittance System
Customer Remittance System - take over development and support of existing software
Project Description
This project involved taking over the development of a live remittance system for an international bank. The application is a fast way for foreign nationals working in the UK to send money to recipients in their own country by electronic transfer. Fairmort were tasked with taking the existing application, updating to work on a newer .Net platform and initially providing bug fixes and support. We also worked with the client on improving work-flow and the user experience. Once this phase was completed Fairmort began to add new functionality including credit card interfaces to ProtX and extending the commission and charging structure. We are actively involved with the client in providing new features for their customers. The system was recently enhanced to support European based payments and thrid-party batch import.
Technologies Used
The application was originally written in VisualBasic.Net 1.1 connecting to a replicated SQL Server 2000 database. Fairmort upgraded the application to .Net 2 and added a data-access-layer. The system utilises Crystal Reports for reporting and Fairmort extended the integration to include custom user reporting based on predefined parameters. The system generates end-of-day receiver payment files, these were originally Foxpro and MS Access databases; Fairmort worked with the client to standardize these files to MS Excel format and allow intra-day generation. The system provides web-service based address look-up and validation, UK address via AFD Postcode Lookup and international addresses via Post Code Anywhere.
